Academics Recruitment Agency is working in partnership with a Newport primary school with a strong focus on early literacy and numeracy, who are looking for a KS1 Intervention Teacher to join the school from September 2026. You’ll work with pupils who would benefit from additional support outside of their usual classroom teaching. This could include small-group phonics, reading, writing or numeracy sessions, as well as targeted one-to-one work where appropriate.
The school is looking for a teacher who can quickly identify where a pupil is struggling and adjust their approach accordingly. You’ll be joining a friendly staff team and will have the opportunity to work closely with class teachers to track progress and celebrate improvements.
We’re looking for a teacher who:
- Holds QTS and has primary teaching experience.
- Has experience teaching within Key Stage 1.
- Has a good understanding of early reading, phonics and numeracy.
- Can use assessment effectively to identify gaps in learning.
- Is able to make lessons engaging for pupils who may lack confidence.
- Communicates well with teachers and support staff.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or is willing to obtain one.
- Is registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
- Can provide two recent professional references.
