We are currently looking for an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Advisor to work for of our clients on an ongoing contract basis
The company is a well-respected provider of specialist equipment to a range of train manufacturers and train operating companies around the UK and overseas
Based in the Midlands/South West but with a requirement to travel to various sites around the UK as and when needed, the successful candidate will assist in the maintenance and continual improvement of our clients Health, Safety and Environmental management system for all of their own facilities and also at customer depots across the UK where their staff are engaged in activities.
As such applicants must be prepared to travel around the UK when required
Working closely with the UK EHS Manager the main duties of this Environmental Health and Safety Advisor role will include:-

- The main duties of this Environmental Health and Safety Advisor role will include:
- Assisting the UK EHS Manager in providing technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support to drive the EHS management systems for Field Services and manufacturing facilities.
- Develop and present regular EHS briefings to team members after legal updates, accident investigation information and recognised improvements.
- Provide EHS advice for the clients UK facilities and Rail Service team, assisting and advising local teams as required.
- Conduct periodic inspections, audits, safety tours and behavioural observations at manufacturing facilities and customer depots, formally documenting findings, identifying trends and driving timely completion of improvements.
- Ensure legal compliance is maintained at all facilities and Field service depots including rail industry standards and specific site requirements.
- Provide suitable Health, Safety and Environmental awareness to employees located at the UK facilities and Field service depots.
- Assist the UK EHS Manager in driving continual improvement initiatives throughout the business and developing subsequent action plans to align with the overall group strategy.
- Support the UK EHS Manager in preparing management system reviews, inputs include KPI performance, audit results, legal compliance status, customer feedback and improvement activities.
- To create and maintain Safety, Health & Environmental Management Improvement plans in conjunction with group directives to ensure legal compliance.
- Empowered to halt dangerous practices where there is imminent risk of injury or damage.
- Facilitate the reporting, investigation and root cause analysis of all near misses, accidents, environmental incidents and dangerous occurrences, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented and verified.
The successful applicant for this EHS Advisor role will possess some if not all of the following training and experience:
- NEBOSH H&S Certificate or equivalent essential (NEBOSH Diploma desirable)
- Full UK driving (essential)
- Recognised Environmental qualification
- Understanding of ISO14001 and 45001 standards
- Trained internal auditor for ISO45001 & ISO14001
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft software systems including, Excel, Power Point, Word, Teams and Share point.
- Knowledge of Rail Industry processes (advantageous)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for a safety critical manufacturing environment
- Detailed understanding of internal risk assessments and able to interpret legally required RAMS from external contractors and customers
- Ability to conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments for complex situations which ensure safe operations for both internal and external employees
- Assist in driving the positive safety culture throughout the UK business
- Experienced in ISO45001 and ISO 14001 Health, Safety and Environmental Management systems
- Strategic, methodical, and logical approach to work and possess a strong visual awareness
- Good understanding of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Strong process capabilities and must have a high attention to detail
- Understand root cause analysis after incident or accident
- Able to assist in accident investigations and write appropriate formal reports
