The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Forklift Truck Driver to join a busy manufacturing operation based in Great Wyrley. This is a hands-on role working closely with the production and warehouse teams to ensure materials and finished products are moved safely, efficiently and on time.

The successful candidate will be responsible for loading and unloading HGVs and delivery vehicles, moving raw materials around the manufacturing site, loading finished goods, supporting production and maintaining an organised yard and warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a forklift truck within a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Load and unload HGVs, delivery vehicles and trailers.
  • Move raw materials, components and finished products around the site.
  • Load finished products ready for customer deliveries.
  • Check quantities, goods and paperwork before loading and dispatch.
  • Ensure loads are positioned and secured correctly.
  • Supply production areas with materials as required.
  • Assist with stock movements and general warehouse duties.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised yard and warehouse.
  • Complete daily forklift checks and report any defects or safety concerns.
  • Follow all site health & safety procedures and manual-handling requirements.
  • Work closely with production, warehouse and transport teams.
  • Assist with general manufacturing duties when required.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous forklift experience, ideally within a manufacturing, warehouse or distribution environment.
  • A current recognised forklift truck operator training certificate for the type of truck being operated.
  • Experience loading and unloading HGVs is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of workplace health & safety.
  • Ability to work safely around pedestrians, vehicles and moving machinery.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
  • Good attention to detail when handling materials and loading vehicles.

Forklift Certification

Candidates must have appropriate operator training for the type of forklift used on site. In the UK, there is no single government‑issued “forklift licence” employers must ensure operators receive adequate training, including basic, job‑specific and familiarisation training.

A recognised forklift training certificate is therefore required, with the employer able to carry out additional site‑specific training and familiarisation where necessary.

Relevant certification may include:

  • Counterbalance Forklift Certificate
  • Reach Forklift Certificate, where applicable
  • Other truck/attachment‑specific training where required
