The Role
We are looking for three experienced Mechanical Fitters to join a major energy infrastructure project at Neu Connect.
The successful candidates will work as part of a site team carrying out mechanical installation activities, reporting to the Site Supervisor or Chargehand.
Candidates must have previous substation experience and be comfortable working within a safety-critical construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical installation activities as directed by the Site Supervisor or Chargehand.
- Work in accordance with site QEHS procedures, site rules and project requirements.
- Complete allocated task cards within the required timescales.
- Work to the standards and timescales set by the Work Party Leader.
- Identify and highlight potential issues or delays in advance.
- Follow all Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
- Assist with project documentation where required.
- Work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship throughout the project.
- Carry out other duties within your competence as directed by site management.
Requirements
- Apprentice trained, with City & Guilds or minimum NVQ Level 3 in an appropriate discipline, plus at least 1 year’s relevant experience.
- Alternatively, industry-recognised training with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as part of a team on an Electricity Supply Industry construction site or similar environment.
- Previous substation experience is essential.
- Experience within power generation, oil & gas, utilities or general construction environments is beneficial.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements.
- Able to work effectively within a team and independently when required.
Qualifications
- CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport.
- Slinger and MEWP tickets are preferred.
- At least one of the three fitters must hold Roto and Telehandler tickets.

- Contract running from 21/09/2026 to 28/02/2027.
