Tradewind Recruitment are proud to be working closely with the North Yorkshire LEA to provide dedicated support to students studying Functional Skills across the region. We are now looking for a passionate Functional Skills Tutor to join our team with immediate starts and help young people develop essential English and Maths skills that will set them up for future success. In this role, you’ll be making a real difference to learners who may face a range of challenges, including behavioural needs, SEND and being in care. Your support will empower them to grow in confidence, achieve their goals, and overcome barriers to learning.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Delivering engaging, high-quality Functional Skills sessions (1:1 and small groups)
  • Planning creative lessons tailored to each learner’s needs
  • Monitoring progress and providing constructive, supportive feedback
  • Adapting your teaching strategies to meet a variety of learning styles
  • Keeping accurate records of attendance, progress and achievements
  • Providing emotional support and understanding individual learner needs

What We’re Looking For:

  • A teaching qualification (QTS preferred) or strong experience as a Tutor or TA
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional needs
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one with our support)
