Role: Senior Residential Support Worker
We are currently recruiting for experienced Senior Residential Support Workers to join childrens residential homes across St Helens and Wigan.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional who is passionate about supporting children and young people and wants to take the next step in their career.
The role
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people aged 818. You will help create a safe, stable and nurturing environment while supporting young people with their emotional, social and practical development.
You will also take a lead role within the home, supporting the wider staff team and helping to ensure care is delivered in line with individual care plans and safeguarding requirements.
Key responsibilities
- * Providing high-quality care and support to children and young people
- * Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- * Supporting emotional wellbeing and development
- * Managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
- * Acting as a positive role model
- * Supporting staff within the home and providing guidance when required
- * Completing accurate records, reports and handovers
- * Following safeguarding and child protection procedures
- * Working alongside managers and external professionals
- * Promoting independence and helping young people develop life skills
- * Taking responsibility for the home and young people during shifts when required
About you
- * Previous experience working within a childrens residential setting
- * Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour
- * A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people
- * Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- * The ability to remain calm under pressure
- * A professional and resilient approach
- * The confidence to take responsibility and lead by example
- * A Level 3 qualification in Children & Young People or equivalent is desirable
