NDT TECHNICIAN (LPT/VT/UT/MPI)

Due to ongoing and consistent global sales (20% annual headcount growth), this thriving, market leading business is looking for a NDT Technician to join their well-established Burton On Trent based team.

Working a Mon Fri week you will attract a package of up £45K plus 25 Hols + Pension + Healthcare benefits.

The NDT Technician role will need a strong and confident communicator with the ability to perform LPT/VT/UT and MPI to international standards.

A knowledge of the Piping materials and products used in Oil & Gas, petrochemical and nuclear industries would be advantageous as would knowledge of testing standards ASME, ASTM, ISO, API and NORSOK.

The Role

Reporting to the HSEQ Supervisor you will be part of a small specialist team, leading NDT standards throughout the company.

Core duties

  • 1. Perform LPT to international standards/client requirements.
  • 2. Perform VT to international standards/client requirements.
  • 3. Perform UT to international standards/client requirements.
  • 4. Perform MPI to international standards/client requirements.
  • 5. Perform UT thickness testing to international standards/client requirements.
  • 6. Perform Hardness testing to international standards/client requirements.
  • 7. Perform Ferritescope testing international standards/client requirements.
  • 8. Perform PMI (by XRF and OES) to international standards/client requirements.
  • 9. Perform other NDT methods (as qualified) to international standards/client requirements.
  • 10. Perform Final dimensional inspection to international standards/client requirements.
  • 11. Ensuring NDT equipment is in good condition and within calibration.
  • 12. Ensuring LPT consumables are in stock and the batches are utilised on a FIFO basis.
  • 13. Producing in house NDT reports and ensuring compliance with the purchase order.
  • 14. Liaise with client and third party inspectors on witness NDT activities.
  • 15. Liaison and resolution with production over Non-conforming product.
  • 16. Liaison with workshop supervisors on concerns and/or findings.
  • 17 Present at daily NDT/Inspection meetings to discuss NDT concerns and findings and review
  • the daily inspection requirements from the HSEQ Supervisor.
  • 18. Interfacing with the commercial, technical, manufacturing and expediting departments.
  • 19. Other duties as required by the HSEQ Management.

Skills

Required

  • 1. EN ISO 9712 PCN Level 2 (Method 22 LPT)
  • 2. EN ISO 9712 PCN Level 2 (Method 23 VT)
  • 3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 4. Excellent computer literacy (365 Applications)

Preferred

  • 1. Proactive approach to learn new skills and further experience/knowledge of industry.
  • 2. Knowledge of the piping materials and products used in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and Nuclear industries.
  • 3. Knowledge of National and International testing standards, for example, ASME, ASTM, ISO, API and NORSOK.
  • 4. Knowledge and awareness of metrology equipment.
  • 5. Engineering background.
