Teacher of General Science Required – Barnsley Secondary Academy
Tradewind Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of General Science to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary academy in Barnsley on a temporary basis, starting in mid-September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Science teacher to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that promote curiosity, critical thinking, and academic achievement.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and educational needs.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes excellent behaviour and engagement.
- Support students in achieving their academic potential and developing a passion for Science.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives and uphold the academy’s policies and procedures.
- Attend relevant meetings, training, and professional development activities as required.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching General Science within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge across the Science curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
