Ready to take your sales career up a gear? Our client is looking for an Area Sales Manager to take ownership of the Newcastle territory and drive growth across an established customer base. This is a genuine field-based sales role for someone who enjoys getting out, meeting customers, building relationships and winning business, not sitting behind a desk all week. You’ll spend 4 days on the road visiting customers and 1 day in the office planning, quoting and following up. And yes, you’ll get a fully expensed electric company car.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts across Newcastle and surrounding areas
  • Develop new business and identify opportunities within your territory
  • Visit around 45 customers per day, building strong face-to-face relationships
  • Work with electrical wholesalers, contractors and industrial customers
  • Prepare and follow up quotes, negotiate and close opportunities
  • Hit sales and gross profit targets
  • Work closely with the internal sales and branch teams to deliver excellent customer service
  • Plan your diary and territory effectively to maximise sales opportunities

Who are we looking for?

We’re ideally looking for someone with a background in cable, electrical, construction or a closely related sector. However, if you’ve got strong field sales experience and can demonstrate transferable skills, we’d still like to hear from you.

You’ll need:

  • Proven experience in field sales, account management or business development
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach
  • Excellent organisation and time management
  • The confidence to develop both existing and new business
  • A full UK driving licence

We’re also looking for someone with a stable and consistent career history. We understand that career progression sometimes means moving companies, but frequent short-term moves without a clear reason can be a concern. Likewise, we’re looking for someone whose experience shows a clear sales/commercial career path, rather than a CV jumping between completely unrelated sectors.

What’s on offer?

  • £45,000 basic salary
  • Fully expensed electric company car
  • Company laptop & mobile phone
  • 22 days annual leave, increasing to 25 days with length of service
  • Annual pay review every April
  • Scrap bonus after 1 year’s service
  • Christmas bonus after 1 year’s service equivalent to one week’s pay
  • Company pension 5% employee / 3% employer contribution
  • Summer & winter social events
  • Weekly or monthly pay options
  • Ongoing training and career development
  • The opportunity to join a market-leading UK cable distributor
