About the role


In this post, you’ll be working one-to‑one with a young person on an EHCP. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN professional or someone passionate about supporting children with diverse educational needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment.


Key Responsibilities



  • Provide one-to‑one and small group support to pupils with special educational needs

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions

  • Support pupils with their academic, social, emotional, and personal development

  • Help implement and monitor Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning targets

  • Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils in developing independence and confidence

  • Adapt resources and learning materials to meet individual pupil needs

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents/carers

  • Support pupils with personal care requirements where necessary

  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour

  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare requirements are always met


Requirements



  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs in a school or educational setting

  • Understanding of a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional, and mental health needs

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach

  • Good organisational and time‑management skills

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support (preferred)

  • Positive, proactive, and professional attitude
