Job Summary

Band 7 Pre‑treatment Therapeutic Radiographer – Sutton site. The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is an international cancer centre known for high quality patient care, education and research. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work as a Band 7 Team Leader within the Pre‑treatment team, leading key areas such as the mould room, Siemens Confidence CT scanner, cannulation and virtual simulation (RayStation). The department operates 6 Elekta Linear Accelerators, 2 Radixact units, a Cyberknife and an Elekta MR Linac. Digital patient pathways are managed using Mosaiq Smart Clinic software.

Salary: £55,524 to £62,652 a year pro‑rata

Responsibilities

• Act as clinical lead at the work base, making evidence‑based decisions within prescribed limits.
• Analyse and approve images after designated training and in accordance with protocols.
• Plan and deliver radiotherapy treatments, ensuring accurate preparation by own and team members.
• Set high technical standards, acting as a role model to junior staff.
• Maintain professional standards for self and team.
• Develop multimodality pathways for enhanced planning in a quality‑driven environment.
• Collaborate with medical, physics, nursing, clerical and support staff across the department.

Education and Qualifications

• Essential: HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer (requires BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy or equivalent accredited programme).
• Desirable: Postgraduate attainment in therapeutic radiography or related leadership/management subject.
• Desirable: Postgraduate qualification or training in assessing, supervising or teaching.

Experience

• Essential: Significant experience in a sophisticated RT environment, treating advanced techniques, particularly IGRT.
• Essential: Participation in a quality management programme.
• Essential: Experience in clinical education of pre‑registration students.
• Desirable: Research, audit or service evaluation experience.
• Desirable: Experience with paper‑free radiotherapy processes.
• Desirable: Experience using Aria/Mosaiq.

Skills, Ability and Knowledge

• Demonstrate advanced principles for sophisticated radiotherapy planning and delivery.
• Computer literate with effective keyboard skills.

Working Circumstances

• Able to work non‑standard hours between 08:00 and 20:00, including non‑residential weekend on‑call service and bank‑holiday service up to eight times a year.
• Flexible to work on both sites as required.
