Job Summary
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust have joined with University Hospitals Tees.
The James Cook University Hospital (JCUH) Radiotherapy department, equipped with Elekta Agility, Elekta EVO Linacs, IRIS AI imaging and adaptive planning, seeks a Clinical Specialist Lead Radiographer.
The role is full‑time, Band 7, permanent, located at Marton Road, Middlesbrough.
Responsibilities
The Clinical Specialist Lead Radiographer will provide expert clinical leadership within radiotherapy, focusing on operational oversight, image‑guided radiotherapy, and complex decision‑making.
Key duties include
- Lead acute operational needs, emergency treatment allocation, image review, and staff support to ensure safe, effective, timely delivery of radiotherapy.
- Contribute to service capacity management, multidisciplinary working, quality assurance, and workforce development.
- Lead audits, monitor trends, and support training and peer review activities.
Qualifications & Skills
- Academic qualification: BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy or equivalent.
- HCPC Registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Supervisory or mentoring experience in a clinical setting.
- Advanced technical radiotherapy experience, including 3D and 2D imaging.
- Clinical experience across a range of procedures, practices and equipment.
- Participation in clinical audit or research.
- Expert knowledge of planning and treatment delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Ability to work independently.
