About
We're looking for a commercially minded Head of Legal to join CATCHES as our first in-house legal hire. It's a broad, hands-on role working closely with our founders and leadership team across corporate, employment, IP, product and commercial matters. This would somebody who pairs strong legal expertise with an entrepreneurial mindset.
What you'll be doing
- Corporate: Support fundraising, governance and equity arrangements.
- Intellectual property: Protect our technology and creative assets, and manage licensing and ownership.
- Product and data: Advise on privacy, data processing and sharing, and on image rights and consent across our AI products, with an eye on UK, EU and US requirements and evolving AI regulation.
- Commercial: Draft and negotiate our customer, partner and supplier agreements, working alongside our commercial team.
- Employment: Own contracts, policies and people matters as the team grows.
- Legal function: Build simple, efficient legal processes and manage external counsel where needed.
What we're looking for
- A qualified lawyer with strong in-house experience, ideally in a high-growth technology business.
- Experience with commercial agreements, software licensing and intellectual property.
- A good understanding of data protection and technology regulation across the UK, EU and US, including AI.
- Strong commercial judgement, with practical solutions rather than just a list of risks.
- Comfortable working directly with founders, operating independently and owning work beyond a traditional legal remit.
- Resourceful and interested in the technology we're building.
