Job Description

The role of Smoke Free Generation Lead Practitioner is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and CYP (Children and Young People). The role is part of our Surrey CYP’s Substance Misuse Service (SYPSMS). You will join a supportive team dedicated to building self-esteem, confidence, and resilience among young people, reducing harm, and enabling them to lead healthy, happy lives.

The main aim of this role is to design and deliver a \’smoke free generation\’ prevention, cessation, and education service for CYP aged 11-24 in Surrey, to reduce smoking and vaping rates among young people.

The service includes three components:

  • Component A: Smoking and Vaping Education Prevention Service
  • Component B: Smoking and Vaping Cessation Service, using NICE Guidance to deliver evidence-based interventions
  • Component C: Education and Delivery Service supporting CYP to stop vaping or smoking, including creating a network of Smoke Free Generation Ambassadors

The service operates on a tiered framework:

  • A specialist stop smoking service
  • Brief advice/intervention
  • Self-help and signposting

You will collaborate with Surrey Young People Substance Misuse Practitioners, who are trained through the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT).

Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification such as youth work, counselling, health and social care, or equivalent experience
  • Good communication, organisational, and ICT skills
