Catch22 exists to help build a society where everyone has a good place to live, good people around them, and a fulfilling purpose - we call these our '3Ps'. We achieve this in two ways. First, we improve lives on the frontline through delivery of public services. Secondly, we use our knowledge to change 'the system', to fix the complex web that can trap and disempower those it was set up to help. Our Hampshire 24/7 Substance Misuse Service is a county wide, community engagement based service offering targeted and specialist treatment to young people aged 25 years and under. Inclusion22 is part of the Hampshire service, providing support to children 8-17 years old whose parents are misusing substances. We are a forward‐thinking, person‐centred service with a high level of credibility among young people. We work with young people to help them achieve the "3 Ps" of our vision; to have a purpose in life, to have a good place to stay and to have good people around them. We achieve this in Hampshire by working in partnership with other agencies to support children whose parents are misusing substances.

This is a very exciting time to join our team! We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Inclusion22 practitioner who has experience in supporting vulnerable children and young people. The post covers a significant area across Hampshire, so a car is essential for this role. You will join our friendly, award‐winning team co‐located with the local adult Substance Misuse service hubs across the county. You will support children aged 8‐17, who are affected by their parental/carer substance misuse, using a variety of therapeutic interventions. We offer a comprehensive training package along with regular line management and external clinical supervision.

  • Providing interventions to children and young people referred to the service under the supervision of the management team.
  • Providing sustained support to a predefined caseload of children and young people who are referred to the service.
  • Identifying risks and safeguarding concerns and managing these appropriately.
  • Providing consultation and information to other professionals from a range of settings.
  • Offering a flexible and adaptive approach to support evening and weekend working, where required.
  • Reducing the risks and negative social and health impacts for children of substance‐misusing parents and carers.
  • Supporting and safeguarding children and young people to develop an understanding of the impact of parental substance use.
  • Safeguarding children of substance‐misusing parents from harm.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of working with vulnerable children and an eagerness to develop integrated partnership working.
  • Experience of working with challenging and hard‐to‐engage children, young people and families.
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have experienced adverse childhood experiences and trauma.
  • Experience of working with children and young people in group and one‐to‐one settings.
  • Trauma‐informed practitioner.
  • Experience of working within a systemic approach.
  • The ability to build, maintain and repair ruptured therapeutic relationships with children and young people.
  • Excellent working knowledge of alcohol, drugs and their effects.
  • Knowledge of issues around parental substance misuse.
  • An awareness of the current issues relating to at‐risk and vulnerable young people.
  • Knowledge of engagement and intervention strategies.
  • Experience of working with disaffected children and young people.

Additional Information

  • Salary: up to Ā£28,000.
  • Hours of work: Full time, 37 hours per week.
  • Contract: Permanent.
  • Location: The role will involve working across a large area of Hampshire; office bases are in Aldershot and Havant. You can work from home/remotely once or twice a week, depending on service requirements.
  • You will be required to have access to a vehicle, a valid driving licence, MOT and business insurance, plus occasional travel around the UK.
  • The role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Requirements to work occasional evenings or weekends may apply.
