Catch22 College specialises in offering learning and training opportunities for students who, for whatever reason, don’t want to stay in a traditional academic environment. We ensure all learning content is tailored to individual needs, interests and aspirations, and all programmes are designed to complement both vocational and academic learner pathways. Through the programme, young people are supported to gain the skills required to progress into apprenticeship training, employment or further education.

We are looking for a Functional Skills Teacher who can create an inspirational learning environment, with high expectations of learner achievement, success, and progression, respecting individual differences in culture and background, and reflecting this in the environment of the classroom. You’ll oversee and co-ordinate the development of your subject area, and prepare and deliver Functional Skills qualifications, from Entry Level to Level 2, that are informed by relevant and up-to-date subject and curriculum knowledge, as required by the curriculum/timetable.

All teachers at the college are responsible for role modelling inclusive learning and the recognition and celebration of diversity. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining good order and discipline among the students, safeguarding their wellbeing.

We are looking for someone with the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • A recognized teaching qualification, minimum level 5
  • A clear understanding of the Study Programme and application, and a sound knowledge of planning and assessment techniques.
  • A robust knowledge of behavioural techniques and theories and their application.
  • Knowledge of the statutory requirements of Equality and Diversity, health and safety, safeguarding and child protection.
  • An extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential.
  • Relevant classroom teaching experience.
  • Ability to cope with emotionally demanding situations.
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, parents/carers and other stakeholders as appropriate.

Contract: Full Time - permanent. Catch22 is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post. Any offer of employment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

At Catch22 we value equality, diversity and inclusion. We are wholeheartedly committed to the principle of equality of opportunity, both as an employer and as a provider of services. Diversity and Inclusion is part of what we do every day, working to deliver our vision to build a strong society where everyone has good people around them, a purpose, and a good place to live. Catch22 is committed to rigorous safeguarding and safer recruitment practices; ensuring that every individual within the organisation has been safely and appropriately checked.

Please note, we will conduct an online search as part of our due diligence checks for successful candidate(s). This will involve a search of all publicly available information online and in social media.
