We are recruiting a Substance Use Practitioner to provide specialist, targeted support to children and young people up to the age of 25. The role involves confidential, non‑judgemental advice and guidance regarding drug and alcohol use, using a variety of therapeutic interventions. The service is delivered through the Hampshire 24/7 Substance Use Service and covers Basingstoke. You will be based at our Aldershot or Havant office, travel across the region, and can work from home remotely once or twice a week (subject to service requirements).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specialist support to young people with complex needs or vulnerabilities.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with service users.
  • Collaborating with partner agencies and commissioners.

Additional requirements and details:

  • Salary: £26,097 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Hours: Full‑time, 37 hours per week.
  • Contract: Maternity cover for up to 10 months.
  • Location: Office based in Aldershot or Havant, covering Basingstoke.
  • Vehicle access and full current driving licence required.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children and young people with complex needs or vulnerabilities (e.g., substance misuse, children’s mental health, education, pastoral support, or SEN).
  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Adaptable and resilient outlook, able to maintain a commitment to supporting service users.
