Our Catch22 College is the collective name for 8 sites we have across the country delivering academic and vocational training programmes for young people aged 14+ who, for whatever reason, are not suited to a mainstream college setting. Our College Site provides learners with a highly supportive environment where they have access to opportunities to build up their confidence and self belief, and to gain new skills and experiences that will help them to achieve their goals in life. We exist to help our learners find their future.
As Lead Teacher you will be providing effective leadership and management on a specific site for a College for 14-19 year olds, delivering a safe and secure education provision for students with complex needs and behaviours. You will be managing the educational environment, which supports and motivates students with complex needs, whilst they undertake a high quality and aspirational curriculum.
- Teaching and learning: Teaching GCSEs in Maths and/or English; building effective and supporting relationships with students and families/carers; managing, implementing and monitoring the timetable; overseeing and coordinating the development of your subject(s) area; planning, producing and updating schemes of work.
- Leadership and management: Managing and analysing performance data; taking appropriate actions to address areas of underperformance; improving the quality of teaching and learning; managing direct reports and dealing with staff under performance effectively; supporting the training and development of staff.
Specific Requirements: The post holder must have a driving licence and be able to drive as part of the role. A recognised Level 5 or above Teaching qualification preferably with QTS (or willing to work towards). Designated Safeguard Lead experience of working with a cohort of young people including those with complex, high behaviour and additional learning needs. Line management experience, setting KPIs and conducting regular supervisions. An extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies.
