Our financial services client is looking for a Risk and Controls Consultant to be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust controls framework to safeguard the business against financial and operational risks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting and a proven track record of developing and implementing effective risk and control strategies.

Required Skills & Experience
- Financial Accounting Expertise: A strong foundation in financial accounting principles and practices is essential. You should be comfortable with balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow analysis.
- Risk & Controls Experience: Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing controls frameworks within a financial services or similar regulated industry.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, analyse root causes, and develop effective solutions.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with financial systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. Knowledge of data analysis tools is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all work.
- Qualifications: A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, CIMA, ACCA) is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Controls Framework Implementation: Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive controls framework across business operations and financial systems.
- Risk Identification & Assessment: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks, ensuring all key processes and systems are appropriately controlled.
- Process Improvement: Partner with business units to identify control weaknesses and design new or improved control procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Testing & Monitoring: Develop and execute control testing plans to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the control’s framework.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of all controls and prepare regular reports for senior management on the status of the control’s environment.
- Internal & External Audits: Act as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors, providing evidence and explanations for control effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance, IT, and Operations, to embed a culture of strong risk management.
