Catch 22 are supporting a professional organisation who require a proactive Building Maintenance Officer to help maintain a modern, high-quality office building in central London. This part-time role offers excellent flexibility and suits someone with a strong knowledge of building maintenance and who has confidence working independently across planned and reactive maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify maintenance issues early and work proactively to reduce reactive costs.
  • Supervise contractors, challenge quotes, and ensure safe, compliant work.
  • Maintain a safe workplace through inspections, RAMS review, and permit-to-work processes.
  • Carry out minor planned and reactive maintenance, including checks, inspections (Fire alarm testing, emergency lighting, changing fuses, flushing, HVAC checks, fabric works).
  • Support room setups and furniture moves with colleagues.
  • Act as onsite support for contractors and assist with emergency procedures.

Ideal Candidate

  • Background in Building Services, M&E, or similar technical maintenance with knowledge of building systems (e.g., HVAC, pumps, lighting, BMS).
  • Strong understanding of H&S regulations, experience with permit-to-work systems and managing external contractors.
  • Technical knowledge City & Guilds Level 2/3 in Mechanical or Electrical discipline would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Proactive, organised, calm under pressure, and confident working independently.
  • Good negotiation skills and comfortable using MS Office and CAFM systems.

Role Package

  • Salary around £19,000 (£34k-£36k pro rata).
  • Part-time, 21 hour contract.
  • Central London, in a modern, well-designed workspace.
  • Flexible working pattern (Option to choose 3 full days or 4-5 shorter days).
  • Additional hours available for occasional weekend shifts (Paid Overtime or time off in lieu).
