Security Officer - Days
Location: Grays, Essex
Salary: £29,259 per annum / £14.07 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week, 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, alternating 7am-7pm and 10am-10pm
Contract: Permanent, full-time
About the role
We are recruiting for a professional and customer-focused Security Officer to join the on-site security team at a busy public-facing destination. This is a key front-line role, helping to provide a safe, welcoming and well-managed environment for visitors, occupiers, contractors and colleagues.
As Security Officer, you will act as a visible and reassuring presence, delivering excellent customer service while supporting the effective management of security, safety and incident response across the site.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out regular patrols in line with assignment instructions and site procedures.
- Provide a professional, helpful and approachable service to visitors, occupiers and contractors.
- Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, emergencies and security-related issues.
- Monitor behaviour, access and activity across the site, reporting concerns accurately and appropriately.
- Maintain accurate records, including incident reports, daily logs and health and safety documentation.
- Support emergency procedures, including fire activations and evacuation processes.
- Liaise with the Security Manager and wider site team to ensure colleagues are briefed and supported.
- Monitor radio communications and follow agreed communication protocols.
- Help ensure compliance with company procedures, site processes and relevant external requirements.
- Support audits, continuous improvement activity and other reasonable duties as required.
About you
You will be professional, calm under pressure and confident working in a customer-focused environment. You will take pride in delivering high standards of service and be comfortable working as part of a team on a rota pattern.
Essential requirements
- Valid front line SIA licence.
- At least two years' experience in a security role.
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional and effective under pressure.
- Smart appearance and a flexible, can-do attitude.
- Ability to attend work reliably in line with the shift pattern.
- First aid qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
Desirable
- CCTV SIA licence.
