We are looking for a talented and inquisitive Principal Dev Ops Engineer whose drive for learning and determination for continuous improvement aligns with our ambitious, fast-growing and transforming company.

Based in our London office, you will be a key player in planning, designing, building and testing the features of our next-generation cloud platform that combines digital video assets, wearable data and athlete information to provide insights and analytics to coaching/support staff, sports scientists and athletes to assist in optimizing athlete performance.

Our software and Dev Ops engineers match this ethos by taking responsibility for constantly improving productivity and development of self and be able to excel in a fast-paced environment with short project timelines from conception to deployment.

  • WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Cloud & Platform Engineering
  • Infrastructure Automation & Ia C: Own infrastructure provisioning and configuration management (e. g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Observability & Reliability: Design, build and maintain logging, monitoring, alerting, and SLO/SLI frameworks to ensure system health and performance.
  • Software Delivery Pipelines: Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, safe, and repeatable software delivery.
  • Infrastructure Operations & Governance: Oversee the availability, scalability, and performance of cloud and on-prem infrastructure while ensuring all systems remain strictly aligned with corporate security standards and global regulatory compliance.
  • Cloud Security
  • Cloud Security & Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant compliance and regulatory frameworks (e. g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR as applicable) and implement best practices cloud security controls.
  • Security Operation: Lead security first approach, collaborate with Security and IT teams to make sure our infrastructure is patched according to SLAs.
  • Application Security (App Sec): Collaborate with security teams to embed security controls into CI/CD pipelines and platform services.

  • Architectural Roadmap & Vision: Define and execute the long-term technical roadmap for Catapult’s global cloud platform, evaluating emerging technologies (e. g., Serverless, AI-driven operations, and Containerization) to ensure the infrastructure remains cutting-edge, scalable, and best to used by our customers.
  • Technical Governance & Standards: Be a big contribution to infrastructure decisions, establishing "Golden Paths" and reusable Infrastructure as Code patterns that dictate how engineering teams deploy services while ensuring consistency across all environments.
  • Strategic Security & Compliance

Integration: Architect and champion a "Shift-Left" security strategy, mandating the integration of automated security guardrails and compliance auditing into the core fabric of the CI/CD pipelines to protect athlete and video data globally.

  • WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • Significant experience in Dev Ops, Site Reliability, Platform or Infrastructure Engineering, with tenure in technical leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in the AWS cloud platform and associated security and compliance practices.
  • Strong background in infrastructure automation (Ia C), CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling.
  • Proven experience with big platform re-design, architecture of new cloud infrastructure systems based on software and business requirements.
  • Solid understanding of App Sec principles, including integrating security into build and deploy pipelines.
  • Experience managing hybrid environments, including traditional data centers and on-prem services.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence across engineering, security, and finance.
  • Experience with regulated industries (e. g., healthcare, fintech).
  • Familiarity with multiple compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • WHAT YOUR SUCCESS WILL LOOK LIKE

By the half-year mark, you will have moved beyond the onboarding phase to become the primary authority on Catapult’s infrastructure.

Ownership: You will fully own the cloud infrastructure, having gained a deep understanding of all interconnected parts that support their athlete and video data services.

Automation: You will have taken control of infrastructure provisioning and configuration management, ensuring that Terraform or Ansible are being used effectively for Ia C.

  • Observability Implementation: You will have designed and begun maintaining essential logging, monitoring, and SLO/SLI frameworks to ensure high system health and performance.
  • Have a full understanding of Catapult’s products and the way we are working in order to be able to architect any new future existing or new product.

By the end of your first year, you will be driving the "next generation" of Catapult’s technology stack and leading cross-functional improvements.

Compliance: You will have transitioned the platform to a "security-first" architecture, successfully embedding automated App Sec controls and vulnerability scanning directly into the CI/CD pipelines.

Influence: Your success will be reflected in your ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, security, and finance to drive technical and operational improvements.
