About the role

My client is a leading specialist engineering business based in Gateshead with a proud history. Reporting to the Site Director, my client seeks a QHSE Manager to join the team to lead on all quality, health, safety and environmental strategy and management.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead and advise on Group QHSE policy
  • Maintain company ISO accreditations i.e. ISO 45001, 9001 and 4001
  • Review and amend the quality assurance manual as and when necessary
  • Conduct quality and spot audits as necessary to ensure compliance
  • Production of annual group management reports
  • Attend audits with 3rd party assessors
  • Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organisation
  • Supplier quality management, improvement and development
  • Working with customers' auditors and ensuring the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers' specifications
  • Application of environmental and health/safety standards
  • Establishing clearly defined quality standards and methodology
  • Documentation control and management
  • Identifying relevant quality-related training needs
  • Establishing standards of service for customers or clients
  • Monitoring performance through audits and gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports

About you

To be considered for the role it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience gained as a Quality & Health, Safety and Environment Manager ideally gained working within an engineering or fabrication business.

Key selection criteria

  • HND equivalent or higher in a relevant discipline
  • NEBOSH certification
  • IOSH certification
  • ISO45001, ISO9001 and ISO4001 Auditor Training
  • Site operation know how
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a medium/heavy engineering environment would be advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience of quality standards in particular ISO 9001: 2015
  • Fully experienced with IT Software packages - Word, Excel, Project, Outlook
  • Strong report writing skills with the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations governing HSE practices
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, particularly in conducting root cause analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Full valid driving licence
