My client, a leading international electrification business, seeks an Electronics Design Engineer to join their R&D division based at their South Tyneside operation.
About the Role
Reporting to the R&D Manager, my client seeks an Electronics Design Engineer who will be responsible for the design, prototype, test, troubleshoot and repair power electronic systems and assemblies.
Main Responsibilities:
- Define methods, operations and sequences for qualification testing of components, circuit blocks, assemblies and products.
- Provide engineering support to the product development team.
- Follow product development cycle (V-model) including requirements capture and verification to requirements.
- Establish and document engineering procedures.
- Analyse and understand customer and regulatory requirements.
- Carry out feasibility studies to determine most suitable topologies to meet requirements.
- Design and debug power electronic circuits, components and PCB assemblies for new product development and sustaining projects.
- Generate documentation, schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams, simulations, circuit design calculations.
- Design, setup and run tests to ensure the design meets specifications.
- Develop and apply new techniques, circuits and tests for product design.
- Maintain records and documentation on all designs, tests and analysis.
- Apply current techniques and tools to improve cost, design time, reliability, durability, and manufacturability.
About you
To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable skills and experience in electronic design, specifically including the design of power electronics, motor drives or static power conversion products.
Key Selection Criteria:
- You will ideally be degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
- Experience with different power silicon technologies and ability to choose the best solution for the requirements.
- Experience of gate drive circuits and technologies.
- Experience of designing low voltage signal level control circuits (microprocessors, PWM generation, signal conditioning).
- Demonstrated knowledge of circuit analysis, simulation and design of experiments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including mentoring capabilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Good documentation discipline for due diligence and design verification traceability.
