Position Overview:
In this newly created Business Development Manager (BDM) role at Catalyst Property Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving new business, expanding the company's client base, and managing relationships with key brokers, intermediaries, and clients in the London area. This role is crucial for identifying and capitalising on growth opportunities in the bridging loan sector, with a particular focus on building a strong pipeline of new business while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Business Development:
- Identify and target new business opportunities within the bridging finance market.
- Build and maintain a strong network of relationships with key industry stakeholders.
- Actively prospect and generate new leads, pursuing opportunities through direct sales, referrals, and networking.
- Present bridging loan products to potential clients, explaining product benefits and providing tailored solutions to meet their specific financial needs.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with existing clients, ensuring ongoing business opportunities and repeat business.
- Work closely with clients to understand their requirements, provide expert advice, and ensure they receive exceptional service throughout the loan process.
- Manage the entire process, from initial enquiry to deal closure, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for clients.
- Product Knowledge & Consultation:
- Be well-versed in the company’s bridging loan products and services, providing expert guidance to clients on appropriate solutions.
- Advise clients on the benefits and risks associated with bridging finance, ensuring they have a full understanding of the terms and conditions.
- Continuously stay updated on industry trends, competitor products, and changes in the regulatory environment to provide accurate information.
- Market Intelligence & Analysis:
- Monitor market trends, competitors, and customer feedback to identify potential opportunities and threats to business growth.
- Provide insights into the evolving demands of the market, informing the company’s product development and marketing strategies.
- Report on industry changes, competitor activity, and client needs to senior management to help shape strategic decisions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the underwriting and servicing teams to ensure smooth execution of deals and compliance with internal processes and regulations.
- Ensure effective communication between departments to ensure clients’ needs are met efficiently and that deals progress seamlessly from enquiry to completion.
- Assist the underwriting team in troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise during the loan process.
- Sales Target Achievement:
- Set and achieve sales targets in line with the company’s growth objectives.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and sales activities, including new client acquisition, loan volume, and business pipeline.
- Continuously evaluate sales strategies and adjust approaches to ensure business development goals are met or exceeded.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure all business practices align with the company’s policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
- Ensure client documentation is complete and accurate, mitigating risks associated with the loan process.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience:
- Proven experience in business development in the bridging finance, property finance, or real estate sectors.
- Strong understanding of bridging loans and the UK property market, including experience working with brokers, developers, and intermediaries.
- A track record of successfully generating leads, closing deals, and meeting sales targets.
- Skills:
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage with clients and close deals effectively.
- Strong networking and relationship-building capabilities, with an ability to establish trust and credibility quickly.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients, brokers, and internal teams.
- High level of financial acumen and product knowledge in bridging finance.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage a busy and varied workload.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Education:
- Professional qualifications such as CeMAP (Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice) or equivalent would be an advantage.
