Position summary: Monday – Friday - 37.5 hours per week. Onsite role.
The Product Development Scientist 1 plays a key role in supporting the development of safe, compliant, and efficient commercial products, working under the guidance of a Senior team member. This position focuses on developing products up to commercial scale in line with regulatory standards, project timelines, and both internal and external customer expectations. Success in this role relies on building strong cross‑functional relationships with teams across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, EH&S and other key stakeholders. The Technologist 1 will contribute to resolving technical challenges, applying Quality by Design principles, and helping the team meet critical business objectives. Effective communication at all organisational levels is essential, including interactions with colleagues, customers, regulatory bodies, professional organisations, and academic partners.
The Role:
- Support process development for safe, compliant and efficient commercial manufacturing.
- Assist with process design, studies, validation, and right‑first‑time product introduction.
- Help troubleshoot issues, drive continuous improvement, and run experimental work to build process understanding.
- Ensure equipment and processes meet safety, capability, and regulatory standards, with accurate documentation.
- Stay aware of industry trends, competitor technologies, and innovations relevant to Zydis processes.
- Prioritise workload to meet project timelines and business goals, adapting to operational needs.
- Maintain cGMP compliance and promote a right‑first‑time culture.
- Support Health & Safety requirements, including COSHH, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
- Contribute to training for operational teams and maintain personal competency.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams, producing high‑quality technical reports and presentations.
The Candidate:
- Degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, engineering, or a related science or equivalent technical knowledge.
- Relevant industry experience is advantageous.
- Fast learner with strong ability to absorb new information.
