Our Swindon facility houses our Zydis fast dissolving tablet development and manufacturing operation as well as a CMC pharmaceutical analytical lab services unit that offers ASAP stability.
We have an opportunity for a Business Development Director to join our team and help drive growth in a dynamic and innovative environment. You will work with a diverse and experienced group focused on improving patient outcomes through advanced pharmaceutical technologies. This role involves building strong relationships, identifying new opportunities, and delivering solutions that make a real difference. Location: UK, 100% Remote, 50% travel
The Role:
- Lead business development efforts to expand CDMO partnerships with pharmaceutical, biotech, and consumer health companies.
- Prospect and generate leads through cold calling, networking, and industry events.
- Develop and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical, biotech, consumer health, and other relevant companies.
- Present and promote CDMO services to potential clients, highlighting value propositions.
- Partner with Commercial Operations and Legal to negotiate and execute complex development and supply agreements to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure client needs are met and support strategic account plans.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments.
- Negotiate high-value contracts and close complex deals.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities and pipeline in CRM systems.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets using Korn Ferry and Scotwork methodologies.
- Manage and grow key accounts, ensuring long-term client satisfaction and retention.
- Present Catalent’s network offerings and craft targeted solutions for customer needs.
- Provide business and relationship management support to existing development programs.
- Ensure compliance with reporting processes and maintain open communication across the organization.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
The Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, business administration, or a related field preferred; an advanced scientific degree and/or Master of Business Administration is advantageous but not essential.
- Pharma Consumer Health industry experience required.
- Experience ideally in the oral solid dosage market.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in B2B sales, business development, or project management.
- Sales or business development experience in the contract pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred.
- Hunting mentality mandatory.
- Proven ability to drive revenue growth and build lasting client relationships.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to meet clients and attend industry events.
- Excellent communication in English.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills to drive successful deal closures.
- Proficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools for managing leads, contacts, and sales activities.
- High level of organization and attention to detail to manage multiple client relationships simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and target-driven mindset to achieve and exceed sales goals.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute to a positive work culture.
