Standard day hours, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week. 100% onsite. Our Bathgate location in Scotland, UK is an integral part of Catalent’s European clinical supply services network. This facility has a comprehensive range of capabilities to support sponsors’ studies throughout the UK, Europe and beyond, including clinical supply management, FastChain® demand‑led supply, clinical‑scale commercial packaging, and QP release services.
As a Production Engineer, you will support both clinical and commercial operations, ensuring equipment reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll work across validation, equipment setup, process optimisation, and client interactions—playing a key part in delivering high‑quality products that meet regulatory and customer expectations.
- Equipment Maintenance & Performance
- Maintain and trend performance of primary and secondary packaging equipment, including MTBF
- Maintain and trend commercial packaging equipment, including MTBF and OEE
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe operations and compliance with GMP, GEP, and company procedures
- Validation
- Lead validation of all equipment and manage supporting documentation
- Lead setup of new equipment, including validation activities, operator training, and optimisation of run conditions
- Continuous Improvement
- Analyse equipment and process performance to drive improvement initiatives, including mistake‑proofing and optimising changeovers using Lean tools such as SMED
- Support process optimisation and efficiency improvements across all production areas
- New Product & Process Introduction
- Work with clients, Pre‑Production, and Production teams on new product requests—from design and setup through to validation and training for new or updated processes
- Lead client discussions on tooling and kit design, translating requirements into practical production solutions
- Audits & Issue Resolution
- Support internal, client, and regulatory audits
- Investigate non‑conformances and support corrective and preventive actions
The Candidate
- HND or equivalent in Engineering
- Knowledge of commercial serialisation systems
- Experience across the full validation lifecycle
- Understanding of change control and CSV (preferred)
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly
- Strong problem‑solving mindset with continuous‑improvement focus (Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt preferred)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
