Job Purpose
Toprovide effective administrative support for the school's medical and first-aidprovision, ensuring that pupils' medical needs are managed safely, efficientlyand confidentially. The postholder will also contribute to the smooth runningof lunchtime by supervising pupils, promoting positive behaviour andmaintaining a safe, calm and welcoming environment.
KeyResponsibilities - Medical Administration
- Actas a first point of contact for pupils and staff who are unwell or requirefirst aid during the school day.
- Providebasic first aid within the limits of appropriate training and schoolprocedures.
- Administeror support the administration of prescribed medication in accordance withschool policies, parental consent and relevant guidance.
- Maintainaccurate and confidential records of medication, first aid incidents, accidentsand pupil illnesses using Medical Tracker.
- Ensuremedication is stored securely, correctly labelled and within expiry dates.
- Liaisewith parents/carers regarding pupil illness, accidents, injuries and medicationwhere appropriate.
- Contactparents/carers or emergency services when required, following schoolprocedures.
- Supportpupils with ongoing medical conditions and ensure relevant care plans arefollowed.
- Monitormedical supplies and first-aid equipment and arrange replenishment whennecessary.
- Maintainconfidentiality and handle sensitive medical information appropriately.
- Assistwith the organisation and updating of individual healthcare plans and medicalrecords.
- Supportthe school in meeting its safeguarding, health and safety and medicaladministration requirements.
- Communicateeffectively with teachers, support staff, parents/carers and externalhealthcare professionals where appropriate.
- Ensurethe school is compliant with Benedicts Law, alongside any other statutoryrequirements.
Lunchtime& Breakfast Club Supervision
- Supervisepupils during Breakfast Club and lunchtime, including in the dining hall,playground and other designated areas.
- Promotepositive behaviour, good manners and respectful interaction between pupils.
- Encouragepupils to follow school rules and breakfast/lunchtime routines.
- Assistpupils where appropriate with eating, drinking and general breakfast/lunchtimeneeds.
- Monitorpupils for signs of illness, injury or distress and respond appropriately.
- Dealcalmly and appropriately with minor incidents and seek assistance whenrequired.
- Ensurepupils remain safe and are appropriately supervised at all times.
- Supportthe prevention of accidents and report hazards or concerns promptly.
- Encouragepositive play and social interaction.
- Helpmaintain a clean, orderly and welcoming breakfast/lunchtime environment.
- Workcooperatively with teaching and support staff to ensure a consistent approachto behaviour and pupil welfare.
Safeguardingand Welfare
- Promoteand safeguard the welfare of all pupils in accordance with the school'ssafeguarding policies and procedures.
- Reportany concerns about a child's welfare, behaviour or safety promptly to theappropriate member of staff.
- Alwaysmaintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Followschool policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, first aid,medication, behaviour and confidentiality.
- Attendrelevant training and maintain required qualifications, including first-aidtraining where applicable.
- Befamiliar with, and adhere to, all school policies and procedures relevant tothe role.
- Ensurethat duties are carried out in accordance with the school's safeguarding,health and safety, first aid, medication, behaviour, confidentiality andemergency procedures.
- Keepup to date with any changes to school policies and attend relevant training asrequired.
GeneralDuties
- Thepostholder is expected to contribute positively to the life of the school andundertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the level of the role.
- Allduties must be carried out in accordance with school policies, safeguardingrequirements, health and safety procedures and relevant legislation.
- Generalassistance on Reception.
