Data Operations is moving from manual, intervention-led work to an automated, controlled and workflow-driven operating model. This role leads the onshore part of that change. The role starts by clearing the current reference data backlog: trade mappings, ETRM reference data and expiry dates. It uses that work to find root causes, control gaps and opportunities to automate, and turns them into Data Operations requirements for workflows, master data management (MDM) and the central data platform. Being in London puts the role close to the European desks and data stewards. The role combines business analysis with day-to-day Data Operations work, including trade failure management, trade support, exchange limit monitoring and reconciliation. The balance between the two will vary depending on the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide trade support across ETRM systems, maintain the Exchange Limits View (ELV) and flag breaches and near-breaches to Compliance, and reconcile ETRM counterparty, strategy and reference data against master data, working with the MDM team to resolve breaks.
Work with business stakeholders and technology teams to test and embed solutions, and confirm each change removes the underlying issue.
Translate recurring issues into Data Operations requirements for MDM, workflow, integration and controls, with clear acceptance criteria.
Clear the reference data backlog, including unmapped trades, ETRM reference data gaps and incorrect expiry dates.
Use SQL and data profiling to investigate issues, find recurring patterns and determine root causes.
Document mappings, business rules, data definitions, process flows and source-to-target requirements.
Design and maintain EBX approval workflows and ServiceNow intake for master data change requests.
Define SLAs and runbooks so that repeatable EBX updates run offshore to a consistent standard.
Resolve exceptions escalated by the offshore team and the business.
Own the trade failure log end to end in ServiceNow: ticket, categorise, assign and close every failure, trace each to its origin, drive upstream fixes with IT and the trading desks, and report volumes, root-cause trends and resolution times.
Track exceptions and Data Operations KPIs, and use the evidence to prioritise the transformation roadmap.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Essential3+ years experience in commodities, energy trading or financial services, with practical ETRM/CTRM knowledge.
Strong SQL and data analysis skills, with the ability to work through complex datasets independently.
Solid understanding of data mapping, reference and master data, data quality and control concepts.
Working knowledge of relational data models, data lineage and system-to-system data flows.
Experience turning operational problems into structured requirements and acceptance criteria.
Able to bridge operational, business and technical teams, with a practical continuous-improvement mindset.
DesirableExperience with MDM platforms (EBX advantageous) and workflow or automation tools such as ServiceNow.
Experience with data catalog and data quality tools such as Atlan and Monte Carlo.
Working knowledge of APIs and system integration.
Python for data analysis and automation. Knowledge of exchange-traded product reference data, including contract specifications and expiry calendars.
Experience working with offshore or shared-service teams. Success Measures: Reference data backlog (unmapped trades, expiry date errors) measured in the first 90 days and cleared to an agreed level within six months.
Manual interventions per month reduced against the 90-day baseline.
Recurring exceptions closed at source, tracked by root cause.
Share of master data change requests handled through ServiceNow and EBX workflow.
Repeatable activities running offshore against a documented runbook and SLA.SummaryLocation: London, UKType: Full time
