About Us

Castles & Coasts Housing Association (CCHA) provides and manages over 7,400 homes across the North of England. Our in-house maintenance team, Castles & Coasts Services (CCS), plays a vital role in keeping our homes safe, well-maintained and comfortable for our customers. We're looking for skilled, reliable and enthusiastic tradespeople to join our growing team across Cumbria. Whether you're an experienced Electrician, Joiner, Plumber, Plasterer or Painter and Decorator, we'd love to hear from you!

The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Trades Operative, you'll carry out a wide range of repairs and maintenance work across our properties, helping us deliver a high-quality service to our customers.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out responsive repairs and maintenance in occupied and empty homes.
  • Completing work to a high standard, ensuring safety, quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Using your core trade skills alongside other practical maintenance skills.
  • Working independently and collaboratively with colleagues and other trades.
  • Accurately recording completed work and materials used.
  • Supporting emergency repairs and out-of-hours services where required.

No two days will be quite the same, and you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference to the homes and communities we look after.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from experienced tradespeople who take pride in their work and enjoy providing a great service. Ideally, you'll have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in your core trade, or relevant demonstrable trade experience.
  • Experience of repairs and maintenance, ideally within domestic properties or social housing.
  • Practical skills beyond your main trade, or a willingness to develop them.
  • Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • The ability to organise your workload, work independently and contribute to a wider team.
  • A commitment to safe working practices and delivering high-quality workmanship.

Experience in social housing is welcome, but not essential. We're equally interested in tradespeople from other backgrounds who have the right skills and attitude.

Why Join Castles & Coasts?

At CCS, you'll be joining a supportive team where your skills are valued and the work you do makes a genuine difference. We offer the stability of permanent employment, a competitive package and the opportunity to work across a varied range of properties and repairs.
