We are looking for a motivated and reliable Dispenser to join our friendly dispensing team at Castlehead Medical Centre. The successful candidate will support the safe and accurate dispensing of medications to patients, working closely with clinicians and other members of the practice team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about patient care and wishes to develop their skills within a supportive primary care environment.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will be responsible for accurately dispensing prescriptions in accordance with practice procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Duties will include assisting patients with medication queries, maintaining dispensing records, supporting stock control and inventory management, and working collaboratively with clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure a high standard of patient care.

Job responsibilities
- Accurately dispense medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Assist in the preparation and administration of medications, providing support to patients as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of medication dispensation and patient interactions, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to data protection regulations.
- Collaborate with dispensary staff and other healthcare staff to optimise patient care and medication management.
- Provide education and information to patients regarding their medications, including potential side effects and proper usage.
- Participate in inventory management, including the ordering, stocking, and disposal of medications in accordance with safety protocols.
Experience
- Previous experience in medication administration is highly desirable.
- An NVQ in dispensing services is desirable but for the right candidate we will support training.
- Demonstrated experience in patient care or a related field will be beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential for success in this role.

- Good standard of general education, including English and Mathematics.
- Willingness to undertake training relevant to the role.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Pharmacy Service Skills, Dispensing Services, or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant dispensing qualification recognised within primary care.
