We are looking for both full-time and part-time GPs to join our friendly team in Cockermouth, a thriving market town on the edge of the breath-taking Lake District National Park. We are keen for candidates who wish to focus on delivering core family practice, getting back to basics, and delivering exceptional levels of patient care and outcomes. We are a visionary, forward-thinking and progressive GP practice in the Lake District. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team during a time when we are planning operational and strategic change. We are currently developing revised ways of working under a new leadership and management team to improve our CQC outcome. There may be a future partnership opportunity for the successful candidate.

Job responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities
- In accordance with the practice timetable, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- In accordance with the practice rota, the post-holder will undertake an On Call day as Duty Doctor and/or Triage Doctor which will involve home visits, telephone triage, urgent on the day appointments and dealing with emergency duties which arise on the day. The On Call days are allocated on a rota basis between all GP staff.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Occasionally dealing with private medicals and insurances.
- Cross cover for other GPs when they are on leave to cover post, results, tasks and prescriptions.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Other responsibilities within the organisation:
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
- A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
- Contributing to Practice Meetings and Clinical Meetings where appropriate.
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
- Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.
- Contributing to the summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data.
- Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
- Participate in incentives such as Enhanced Services and QoF as directed.

Qualifications
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and entry on the GP Register.
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice / Certificate Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR), or equivalent.
- Included on a Medical Performers List or eligible.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Evidence of other specialist interest/development/training.
Experience
- Experience in general practice and working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong EMIS knowledge.
