Main Responsibilities:

  • Teach groups of Year 6 pupils and ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
  • Maintain the positive ethos and core values of the academy both inside and outside the classroom setting.
  • Contribute positively to the KS2 staff team.
  • Implement agreed academy policies and guidelines.
  • Support initiatives decided by the senior leadership team.
  • Plan appropriately to meet the needs of all pupils, through adaptive teaching and learning.
  • Set clear targets, based on prior achievement, for pupils' learning.
  • Keep appropriate and efficient records, integrating formative and summative assessment into weekly and termly planning.
  • Report to parents on the development and achievement of pupils.
  • Demonstrate positive behaviour management approaches, in accordance with the academy's behaviour policy.
  • Follow the academy’s safeguarding policies and approaches to ‘Keeping Children Safe’.
  • Communicate and co-operate with specialists from external agencies.
  • Lead, organise and direct support staff within upper KS2.
  • Participate in the performance management system of the academy including appraisal of their own performance.
