Castlefield Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a highly regarded Independent Healthcare Charity to recruit a Senior Occupational Therapist on a permanent basis at their main site in North London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist, patient-centred organisation that is committed to delivering outstanding care and investing in its clinical teams.
The post is full time (37.5 hours per week) and is offered at a level equivalent to an NHS Band 6 role. Salary Range: £46,419 to £55,046 per annum, alongside an excellent benefits package, ongoing professional development opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful impact within a supportive and forward-thinking clinical environment.
Job Details:
To practise autonomously within scope, delivering a high-quality occupational therapy service that meets the hospital’s clinical and strategic objectives. The role involves providing specialist assessment and intervention to a diverse and complex inpatient and outpatient caseload, while contributing to the ongoing development, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the service. The post-holder will support evidence-based practice through supervision, audit, service evaluation, projects and in-service training, and will build effective working relationships with key stakeholders. They will actively promote a positive, dynamic culture that reflects and upholds the hospital’s values.
Duties:
- To take professional and legal accountability for all aspects of clinical practice, managing a specialist caseload independently and efficiently in line with clinical priorities.
- The role involves undertaking comprehensive assessments, using advanced clinical knowledge and judgement to plan and deliver evidence-based interventions, and regularly reviewing outcomes in collaboration with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
- The post-holder will provide specialist advice, contribute to discharge planning, produce patient resources, maintain accurate records, and communicate complex and sensitive information effectively.
- They will ensure informed consent, safe use of equipment, and active participation in MDT forums, while liaising with referrers and external colleagues to support coordinated patient care.
- To demonstrate strong clinical governance, risk management and adherence to HCPC standards, professional codes of conduct and hospital policies.
- The post-holder will promote patient safety, manage equipment responsibly, and contribute to the development and review of departmental policies.
- They will take responsibility for continuing professional development through lifelong learning, supervision, appraisal and mandatory training, maintaining a CPD portfolio and clinical competencies.
- The role includes supporting the effective day-to-day running of the therapy service, acting as a source of specialist advice, contributing to staff induction, representing the service at relevant meetings, and managing time effectively to meet service demands.
