Castlefield Recruitment are delighted to be exclusively working with the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust to recruit a Senior Category Manager (Clinical). Led by a highly innovative Assistant Director of Procurement of Supplies, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust are seen as a ‘market leading’ NHS procurement function, with procurement being particularly valued by the executive board at the Trust.

As Senior Category Manager (Clinical) you will provide a key role in the delivery of the procurement work plan with both Clinical Management Groups and Corporate Directorates, achieving the most economic supply arrangements, whilst adhering to procurement rules and Trust governance. You will be expected to provide strategic advice to the Clinical Management Groups, providing them with relevant and appropriate advice in relation to delivering the best commercial outcomes in line with legislation and local governance.

The role offers hybrid working, offering 3 days from home and 2 days on site (LE3 8TB) per week. The role is paying £62,215 - £72,293 per annum and offers the following benefits:

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present Category Strategy and Contract Award Papers to the Procurement Contracts Committee and other Committees as required
  • Support the Head of Procurement in the delivery of cost and efficiency savings across a large portfolio across CMGs / Directorates by analysing current spend information and undertaking market analysis to develop procurement strategies
  • Ensure contract compliance across the Trust where commitment contracts are placed, pursuing procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets

Requirements:

  • Clinical and non-clinical category management experience
  • Public sector or private (healthcare) experience
  • MCIPS or relevant procurement experience
  • Current Leadership/mentoring experience
  • Previous/current tendering and public procurement (PCR/PSR and the new Procurement Act) knowledge
  • Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills
