Castlefield are working with an NHS trust who provide community services, mental health care, physical health, addiction services and learning disability care. We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Legislation Manager for an on-going interim role (Rolling 3 month contract) to work on a full-time hybrid basis. You must have recent NHS experience in a similar role or department.
Hours: Full time - Monday to Friday 9-5 (Hybrid)
Weekly Payment: via Umbrella
Job role:
- Lead in providing advice, scrutiny and audit of the implementation of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation for the Trust.
- Provide advice across the Trust on compliance with key policy and legal developments.
- Keep the Trust informed of emerging developments in this area.
- Support other leads to ensure the Trust supports principles underpinning the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
- Be responsible for the overall professional management of the Mental Health Act administration function within the organisation.
- Interpret national policy and legislation in relation to a range of policy areas.
- Develop and deliver training strategies for staff specific to their job roles in relation to both the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act.
- Provide practical advice to all staff in relation to promoting best practice in line with key Mental Health legislation.
- Support and give expert practical advice on decision making for complex cases, ensuring that decision making is lawful, transparent and balanced.
Role Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification; or IMHAP membership.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in mental health / mental capacity law.
- In-depth knowledge of MHA, MCA, Codes of Practice, and case law.
- Experience in audit, policy development, training delivery, report writing, and multi-agency working.
- Have valid right to work in the UK.
- Previous NHS experience.
