Castlefield Recruitment are working in partnership with a healthcare organisation in the North East who are seeking to appoint an experienced Head of People & Organisational Development to lead and deliver the organisation’s People and OD strategy.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the post holder will act as the principal People adviser to the Senior Leadership Team, Managing Director and Board. The role will provide strategic leadership across workforce planning, organisational development, culture, leadership capability and employee relations, ensuring People priorities are fully embedded within corporate planning, financial sustainability and service delivery. This is a senior, strategic role operating within a complex and regulated healthcare environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the delivery of the People & OD strategy aligned to the organisation’s Corporate Strategy and Group workforce priorities
- Act as principal People adviser to the Senior Leadership Team, Managing Director and Board, providing expert advice and constructive challenge
- Embed workforce considerations into organisational decision-making, transformation programmes and service redesign
- Lead organisational development activity, including culture change, leadership development, talent management and succession planning
- Provide strategic leadership on employee relations, including effective partnership working with Trade Unions
- Lead long-term workforce planning and modelling to ensure organisational resilience and sustainability
- Provide strategic oversight of POD service delivery through effective delegation, performance management and assurance
- Oversee complex and high-risk employee relations cases and organisational change activity, including restructures and TUPE
- Maintain robust People governance arrangements and provide assurance on workforce risk, compliance and regulatory requirements
- Lead workforce reporting, metrics and insight to support senior decision-making and Board assurance
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion across the organisation
Key experience required:
- Chartered MCIPD or equivalent senior professional qualification
- Significant senior leadership experience across HR / People / OD in a complex organisation
- Proven experience advising Executive Teams or Boards on workforce, culture and organisational effectiveness
- Extensive experience across organisational development, employee relations, workforce planning and change
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and People governance within a regulated environment
- Experience working within healthcare, public sector or a similarly regulated setting
- Proven ability to lead and influence at senior level, providing constructive challenge and assurance
- Experience leading organisational or cultural transformation programmes
