The Opportunity
Castle Wealth is looking for an Independent Financial Adviser to take responsibility for an established and manageable client bank within our growing independent financial planning business. Unlike many adviser roles, there is no requirement to build a client bank from scratch or rely on self-generated new business. Your primary focus will be on providing high-quality advice, developing long-term client relationships and identifying planning opportunities within an existing portfolio of clients. You will be supported by experienced paraplanning and administration teams, allowing you to spend more of your time working with clients and delivering advice. We are open to candidates at different stages of their advisory career. This could suit a developing adviser looking for the opportunity to take responsibility for an established client bank, or an experienced adviser looking for a high-quality servicing role without the pressure of continually generating new clients.
The Role
You will take responsibility for managing and developing relationships with an existing client bank, delivering structured annual and interim reviews and ensuring clients continue to receive suitable, valuable and proactive financial advice. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and developing long-term relationships with existing clients
- Conducting annual and interim client reviews, both face-to-face and remotely
- Providing holistic independent financial advice across retirement, pensions, investments, protection, tax-efficient planning and estate/IHT planning
- Understanding clients' objectives, circumstances, risk profiles and capacity for loss and adapting their financial plans accordingly
- Using cash-flow modelling as part of the financial planning and client discussion process
- Identifying additional planning opportunities arising naturally from client reviews and changing circumstances
- Preparing high-quality cases and instructions for our paraplanning team
- Reviewing and presenting suitability reports and recommendations clearly to clients
- Overseeing the implementation of agreed advice
- Maintaining accurate and compliant client records
- Ensuring advice meets FCA requirements, Consumer Duty expectations and Castle Wealth's internal standards
About You
You will be a Level 4 Diploma-qualified Financial Adviser with experience of working directly with clients and a strong technical understanding of financial planning. We are particularly interested in someone who combines technical capability with strong interpersonal skills. Our clients value long-term relationships, so the ability to communicate clearly, build trust and make complex financial planning understandable is important.
Essential:
- Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning
- Current Statement of Professional Standing (SPS)
- Experience in a client-facing financial planning or advisory role
- Strong knowledge of pensions, investments and retirement planning
- Good understanding of investment and pension providers and platforms
- Experience of, and confidence using, cash-flow modelling
- Strong communication and relationship-management skills
- A client-first approach with a focus on long-term outcomes
- Good regulatory awareness and attention to detail
For more experienced applicants, we would expect Competent Adviser Status (CAS) and the ability to take responsibility for a client bank with minimal supervision. We would also welcome applications from suitably experienced Level 4-qualified candidates who are progressing towards CAS and are ready to take the next step in their advisory career. Progress towards Chartered Financial Planner status would be advantageous, and we are happy to support further professional development.
What We Offer
£50,000 – £75,000 basic salary, depending on experience and capability. In addition, there is a performance-related bonus of up to £20,000 per annum, recognising performance across areas including:
- Client service and retention
- Quality and compliance standards
- Growth in assets under advice
- Additional advice opportunities arising from the existing client bank
- Overall contribution to the business
The bonus structure is designed to reward high-quality advice and long-term client outcomes rather than simply new business production. You will also receive:
- Employer pension contribution
- Flexible / hybrid working
- Full paraplanning and administrative support
- An established client bank
- Support towards Chartered status and continued professional development
- Clear opportunities for career progression
- The potential for future equity participation for exceptional, long-term performers
Why Castle Wealth?

We are an independent, directly authorised financial planning firm working in and around Hertfordshire and Essex, with clients across a broad range of financial circumstances, including individuals and families with significant and complex financial planning requirements.
