Title: Transport/Yard Assistant Type: Permanent Hours: Full Time (Monday Friday) Location: Inverness Salary: £29,000 Details: This role requires managing daily yard operations and supporting the transport and logistics team. You will ensure safe loading, unloading, and organising of materials using a forklift, while keeping the site safe, clean, and highly efficient. Key Responsibilities Forklift Yard Operations Drive counterbalance or reach forklift trucks safely. Load outgoing delivery trucks efficiently to meet transport schedules. Unload incoming supplier deliveries and check for damage. Transfer materials to correct storage bays or warehouse locations. Arrange stock logically to maximize space and accessibility. Logistics Support Verify delivery notes against physical stock received. Prepare and wrap goods ready for dispatch. Direct delivery drivers upon arrival. Notify supervisors of short deliveries or damaged goods immediately. Health, Safety Maintenance Complete daily pre-shift safety checklists. Keep walkways, emergency exits, and driving lanes clear. Adhere strictly to onsite health and safety policies. Keep the yard clean, tidy, and organized. Person Specification Valid, accredited Forklift Truck (FLT) license (e.g., RTITB or ITSSAR Counterbalance). Experience working in a busy yard, warehouse, or transport environment. Ability to handle physical outdoor work in all weather conditions. Strong communication skills to coordinate with drivers and team members. Punctual, proactive, and able to work independently. Safety knowledge: First aid or health and safety certifications preferred.
