Details:
Our client is looking to appoint an experienced and proactive Depot Supervisor to support the safe, efficient and compliant day-to-day running of the depot operation. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for driver debriefs, vehicle checks, depot compliance, operational planning and ensuring that issues are identified and resolved quickly.
Previous experience within transport, logistics, fleet or depot operations is highly desirable. An HGV licence would be a strong advantage .
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct structured debriefs with returning drivers.
Identify and record vehicle defects before vehicles are parked.
Review failed or delayed deliveries and identify any follow-up action required.
Ensure all relevant paperwork and compliance checks are completed before the end of the shift.
Feed operational information into the following day's planning.
Reallocate vehicles or amend routes where operational issues arise.
Carry out daily depot, yard and vehicle walk-around checks.
Deliver toolbox talks to drivers.
Prepare and issue routes to drivers.
Use transport management systems, including CODAS, to support planning and re-routing.
Complete depot audits and gate checks.
Record and file vehicle defects.
Maintain the breakdown log.
Prepare reports on driver performance using systems such as Webfleet and Vision.
Support quarterly vehicle checks and inspections.
Coordinate tyre inspections and accompany external operators where required.
Provide holiday cover for the Day Supervisor and Depot Manager.
Support the backshift operation and respond to operational issues where required.
Person Specification:
Experience within transport, logistics, fleet or depot operations.
A good understanding of vehicle and depot compliance.
Strong planning and organisational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to build positive working relationships with drivers, colleagues and external stakeholders.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Confidence working with operational data and preparing reports.
The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
Experience using transport management or route planning systems would be advantageous.
An HGV licence is highly desirable.
