About the Role
This businesshas been dedicated to helping homeowners and communities across the UK reduce energy costs, improve comfort, and loweringclients carbon footprint through tailored heating, insulation, and renewable energy solutions.
We are looking for an experienced and detail-driven Financial Controller & Payroll Officer to manage all aspects of finance and payroll within the business. This standalone role is ideal for someone confident in their ability to take ownership of financial operations, reporting, and compliance while acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.
You will collaborate closely with the COO to develop a clear understanding of the businesss operations, enabling you to contribute effectively to conversations focused on enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Finance
Full responsibility for financial management, control, and reporting
Produce monthly management accounts, forecasts, and financial statements
Oversee bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow
Manage budgets, analyse variances, and provide clear financial insight
Submit VAT returns and ensure all statutory obligations are met
Liaise with external accountants, HMRC, and auditors as needed
Managing and maintenance of financial software or applications
Payroll
Run 4 weekly payroll in-house, including pensions and statutory payments
Submit RTI reports to HMRC and ensure compliance with payroll legislation
Manage new starters, leavers, holiday pay, and bonuses
Maintain accurate employee records and handle payroll queries
Administering auto-enrolment and pension scheme submissions

What We Are Looking For
Qualified or Part-Qualified (ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW) with solid experience
Proven track record in a standalone finance/payroll role, ideally in a Small or Medium-sized Enterprise.
Strong understanding of UK payroll and financial regulations
Proficiency with software such as Xero &BrightHR
High level of accuracy, independence, and organisation
Clear communicator with confidence reporting to senior leadership
