Castle Point Borough Council is a statutory body responsible for employing nearly 350 staff and delivering over 150 council services, both statutory and for the community's well-being and benefit. The role involves supporting the Assistant Director Environment and working with the Environment Team on projects related to the Council's £2.5 million Public Initiatives Fund, focusing on rejuvenation and improvements to the Council's playgrounds, parks and open spaces.

  • Initiate and produce procurement documents for projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Manage programme and project timelines, budgets and resources, collaborating with stakeholders and meeting governance requirements.
  • Plan and schedule project milestones, identify dependencies, assess potential risks and report to senior management.
  • Assess and mitigate project risks, including environmental and anti-social behaviour risks, to create safe spaces.
  • Engage stakeholders – internal teams, external contractors and community members – to ensure successful delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on project progress, financial data, environmental compliance and waste reduction efforts.
  • Work with the council communications team to promote the various projects.

Accountabilities:

  • Establish separate programmes for each project.
  • Assist with the production of specifications for each project.
  • Liaise with the Council’s procurement leads.
  • Arrange meetings with stakeholders.
  • Identify and address risks for each project, ensuring they are reduced.
  • Ensure each project drives down anti-social behaviour and prioritises safety in parks and open spaces.

The Experience You Will Bring:

  • Project management experience, particularly with rejuvenation of parks and open spaces.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of rejuvenating parks and open spaces.
  • Experience working in parks and open spaces.
  • Play-space procurement and open-space development experience.
  • Data management and building skills; lake management desirable.
