You will lead a dedicated team to prevent homelessness, shape the local private rental market, and deliver a legally compliant service.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a resilient leader who blends sharp commercial and financial intelligence, who is kind and fair with a deep commitment to social justice. You will have:
- Extensive experience managing or leading a statutory Housing Options or Homelessness service within a UK Local Authority setting.
- Expert, up-to-date knowledge of UK housing law, the Homelessness Code of Guidance, and relevant case law (e.g., vulnerability and affordability metrics).
- Proven experience managing high-pressure capital and Revenue budgets with a knowledge of working with and commissioning external accommodation providers.
- Hold a CIH Level 5 in Housing (or be prepared to study for).
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to remain calm, authoritative, and non-partisan under political or judicial scrutiny.
- A detailed knowledge of the IT tools which support the Housing Options service and ideally with experience of MRI housing systems.
- A leadership style rooted in kindness, collaboration, capable of fostering emotional resilience and high performance within a demanding work environment.
