Castle Howard is seeking a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our Household Team.
This is a unique opportunity to work within one of the UK's most celebrated historic houses. Helping to care for and present it's extraordinary interiors and visitor spaces to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring Castle Howard remains welcoming, immaculate and beautifully presented for visitors, guests and private events throughout the year.
The Role
- Cleaning and maintaining visitor facilities, offices and staff areas
- Ensuring a high standard of presentation throughout the visitor route, historic interiors and exhibition spaces
- Proactive monitoring of visitor facilities
- Assisting with room preparation for tours, events and private functions
- Working with the Collections team to help care for the collections and take an active role in the winter cleaning schedule
- Supporting housekeeping operations during peak visitor periods and special events
- Supporting the facilities team to ensure high standards of presentation are maintained across the site
- Monitoring cleaning stock levels and reporting maintenance concernsFollowing safe working practices and conservation-aware cleaning methods
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Estate and House teams
About You
- We are looking for someone who:
- Takes pride in delivering exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Has a positive, reliable and flexible approach to work
- Is able to work independently and as part of a team
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Is physically capable of carrying out manual cleaning duties
- Is respectful of working within a historic environment
- Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience is desirable, although full training will be provided
- Experience within hospitality, hotels, visitor attractions or heritage settings would be advantageous but is not essential.

Hours
30 hours per week
Weekend and bank holiday working will be required as part of a rota.
