Castle Howard Estate Ltd is a renowned visitor attraction and working rural estate located just outside York. Open to the public since 1952, we welcome nearly 250,000 visitors each year to explore our historic house, gardens, and diverse range of events. Our estate not only offers a glimpse into history but also engages in farming, forestry, and property management. Summary We are seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our team at Castle Howard Estate Ltd. In this role, you will provide essential technical support to ensure the smooth operation of our IT systems across the estate. Your expertise will help us maintain our commitment to delivering an exceptional visitor experience. Responsibilities Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues promptly and effectively Assist the Head of IT in the analysis of user problems, proactively research and implement appropriate solutions to reduce the frequency of recurring issues In the absence of the Head of IT, liaise with external support resources to resolve outstanding problems and follow up to successful and timely completion Configure, install and maintain PCs, laptops, printers and other IT equipment Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as approving system updates and testing backups Provide appropriate user training to maximise the benefit derived from IT systems Ensure the appropriate records and system documentation are kept up to date Perform installation, configuration & maintenance of computer hardware and software Oversee the procedures, security and issue of IT resources for new starters and leavers Develop a detailed understanding of the MStore EPOS system Be aware of customer/employee confidentiality in accordance with GDPR Any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of IT or Castle Howard Estate. Requirements Excellent customer service skills including verbal and written communication skills Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team Communicate well with stakeholders at all levels in a helpful and professional manner Ability to provide out of hours and weekend IT support as required Well organised and methodical with good attention to detail A working knowledge of Windows Server OS (including Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP) as well as Windows Desktop OS Basic understanding of networking concept (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) A strong interest in learning and developing your IT knowledge If you are passionate about technology and eager to contribute to a historic estate that captivates visitors from around the world, we invite you to apply for the IT Support Specialist position at Castle Howard Estate Ltd!
