Castle Hill St Philip’s CE Primary School is a welcoming and happy primary school with a strong Christian ethos. The Governors are seeking a caretaker who will be wholly committed to the school’s interests and the welfare and safety of children and staff. The successful applicant will work under the direction of the Headteacher and School Business Manager.
This is a key role within our friendly, enthusiastic and conscientious team and we’re looking for someone who will bring not only strong skills but a warm, team‑focused approach.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:- Play a key part in ensuring the school environment is a safe and pleasant place for children, parents, staff and visitors.
- Maintain security of the building and contents, unlocking and locking, and managing access to the school grounds during busy periods.
- Efficient use of lighting and heating.
- Work with existing cleaners to maintain a high level of cleanliness across the whole school site.
- Perform porterage duties to assist with handling deliveries, etc.
- Report defects and safety hazards to the School Business Manager to ensure that high standards are maintained.
- Routine maintenance and some gardening duties to be undertaken.
- Respond to occasional emergency or security call outs.
- Flexibility and willingness to work as part of our team are essential as the successful candidate may be required to work additional hours.
The position operates on a split‑shift basis, with working hours of 7:00 am‑10:30 am and 2:45 pm‑6:15 pm. Holidays are also to be taken in the school holidays.
