We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist engineering business for an experienced Electrical Site Technician to support the maintenance, servicing, and installation of AC and DC switchgear and power systems across customer sites in the UK. This role offers a strong mix of site-based electrical maintenance work and factory-based switchgear assembly when not on site. While prior switchgear experience is not essential, candidates must have a proven background working with control panels or distribution equipment.
Responsibilities
- Electrical maintenance, servicing, testing, and fault-finding on switchgear
- Planned preventative maintenance and reactive site work
- Interpretation of electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and general arrangement drawings
- On-site customer support, reporting, and technical problem solving
- Factory-based assembly of switchgear and electrical panels when not attending site work
- Control panel wiring, cabling, and copper busbar forming and fitting
- Participation in an on-call rota, including weekday daytime call-outs
- Travel to customer sites across the UK, with occasional overnight stays
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as an Electrical Site Technician, Electrical Maintenance Technician, or similar
- Hands-on experience with switchgear, control panels, busbars, or power distribution systems
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to pass a PTS medical (safety-critical role)
- Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
