Castle Environmental are a specialist Hazardous Waste Management company, leading the way in recycling and treatment solutions for complex waste streams. With a growing portfolio of project development initiatives across waste management and energy recovery technologies, we are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to join our team.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will take full ownership of the delivery of capital projects from concept through to completion. You will lead project execution across multiple sites, ensuring safe, compliant, and commercially successful outcomes. This is a hands‑on role, combining technical expertise, leadership, and stakeholder management. You will oversee all phases of project delivery, from scoping and procurement through to construction, commissioning, and handover, while ensuring adherence to industry standards and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects to agreed scope, cost, and timelines
  • Develop and manage detailed project programmes, budgets, and resource plans
  • Oversee preparation of Scope of Work documentation and tender packages
  • Manage contractor selection, procurement processes, and commercial negotiations
  • Ensure strict compliance with company procurement procedures and governance
  • Drive a strong safety culture, ensuring all works are delivered in line with HSE requirements
  • Review and approve Safe Systems of Work, including RAMS and Permit to Work documentation
  • Supervise onsite project activity, ensuring installation meets engineering standards and legislation
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and issues, escalating where appropriate
  • Lead regular project reviews and provide clear reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and site leadership teams to ensure seamless delivery
  • Provide technical support and engineering oversight across the wider business

About You

We are looking for a proactive and practical Project Manager with strong leadership capability and a solutions-focused mindset.

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Electrical, Civil, or similar)
  • Experience in hazardous waste, chemical, energy, or process industries
  • Experience delivering multi‑site or complex capital projects
  • Proven experience managing engineering or construction projects within industrial or process environments
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical/process systems (e.g., tanks, pipework, plant equipment)
  • Experience managing contractors and overseeing site‑based activities
  • Demonstrable experience in project planning, procurement, and budget control
  • Strong understanding of HSE legislation and safe systems of work (RAMS, PTW, isolations)
  • Relevant health & safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, or NEBOSH)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Project Management Qualification
