The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a hands-on Production Supervisor to join a busy food manufacturing business near Howden. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the packhouse, ensuring production targets, quality standards and customer requirements are consistently achieved. You'll lead and motivate a team of production operatives while driving efficiency, maintaining food safety standards and creating a positive team culture. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Production Supervisor or Team Leader looking to take the next step within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

The Role

  • Lead, organise and motivate a team of production operatives to deliver the daily production plan.
  • Plan labour effectively to maximise productivity and efficiency across the packing lines.
  • Ensure all products are packed to customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Drive production KPIs while reducing waste and downtime.
  • Carry out pre-production checks, quality inspections and end-of-shift checks.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, GMP and Health & Safety.
  • Complete production paperwork and downtime records accurately.
  • Work closely with the Production, Quality, Engineering, Intake and Despatch teams.
  • Coach and develop team members through effective leadership and training.
  • Provide cover for the Production Manager when required.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the department.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Team Leader or Shift Supervisor within food manufacturing, FMCG or a packaging environment.
  • Experience leading and developing production teams.
  • Strong organisational, communication and people management skills.
  • Good IT and numerical ability.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
  • HACCP knowledge would be advantageous.
  • A flexible approach to working hours in line with business demands.

Working Pattern

Approximately 40-45 hours per week. You will work every Saturday and Sunday, with two weekdays off each week. Typical start time is 7:30am, with finish times varying depending on production volumes. During the summer months, production is generally quieter, so earlier finishes are common. During the busier winter season, later finishes are expected. This averages out over the course of the year. Flexibility is essential to meet customer demand and seasonal peaks.

Benefits

  • 28 days annual leave, including bank holidays.
  • Company pension.
  • Ongoing training and development.
  • Opportunity to progress within a growing food manufacturing business.

If you're a hands-on Production Supervisor who enjoys leading from the front, developing people and driving operational performance in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, we'd love to hear from you.
